When you're a kid, you get discouraged because nothing exciting happened all summer. When you're a parent, you're praying nothing exciting happens to the kids all summer. Excitement can be quite expensive

It's hard to believe it's almost time for school. Let the excitement begin!

My trip to the dentist was okay, but strange thoughts happen when you are in the dentist's chair. My tongue is fine, however.

This works for Illustration Friday. This week's word is, "impatience." It's hard to be patient when a dentist is inserting strange tools in your mouth!

Mike Lynch Cartoons: Too Many Sketchbooks

Mike Lynch has a great post about every cartoonist's dilemma: how to make the sketchbook work.

Is one enough? Can you ever have too many? I like Mike's approach. My tendency has been to have one sketchbook and then put everything in there. It works for me, but perhaps Mike has a better idea.

Cartoon: Tastes in television

I wonder what the bear wants to watch? The obvious choice would be "Animal Planet." Then again, maybe he's a Sponge Bob fan.

You know it's getting close to the end of a school break when kids argue with even inanimate objects. If the object brings the kid to tears, then you know it's time for a nice, family walk around the neighborhood.

Cartoon: But he followed me home

Cartoon of Dad, son and raccoon. Dad is angry. Son says to Dad, "But he followed my home."

When I went to camp, there were a few critters I would have liked to take home. None of them were within the cabin. Those type of critters tried to come home with me on their own.

Instead of taking a raccoon home as a souvenir, I opted for the t-shirt instead. They were easier to wash.

Cartoon: parenting butterflies

Insects must have it easy. Even though their parenting skills are nonexistent, they don't have to deal with a generation gap.

Then again, they don't know the joys of parenting either. I guess it's about how much you invest. Go ahead and give your time. Sooner or later, that caterpillar will emerge as a stunning butterfly.
